5 medium sweet potatoes 1/2 c. sugar 1/4 c. white syrup 2 T. butter 1 1/2 c. water pinch of salt nutmeg or cinnamon
Peel yams; cut in 1/2 lengthwise. Place in baking dish. Add sugar, syrup, butter, water and salt. Sprinkle nutmeg or cinnamon; cover. Bake in oven at 400 degrees until tender and a thick syrup is formed. Baste frequently.
