1 c. sugar
1 c. all purpose flour
1/2 tsp salt
1 1/2 tsp cinnamon
1/2 c. butter softened
5 to 6 peeled and sliced Granny Smith apples
1 1/2 tbsp. lemon juice

Directions:
Directions:
Grease 8"X8" baking dish. In large bowl, combine sugar, flour, salt and spices. With pastry blender, cut butter into sugar mixture until crumbly. Spread apples over bottom of baking dish, sprinkling lemon juice on each layer. Press the sugar crumb mixture evenly over apples, making sure edges are well sealed. Bake 50 to 60 minutes until apples are tender. Serve warm with whipped cream or ice cream.
