8 cups flour
1 cup sugar
1/2 cup shortening
2 yeast cakes
1/2 cup warm water
1 1/2 tsp. salt
3 cups warm milk
2 eggs

Directions:
Directions:
Dissolve yeast in 1/2 cup warm water. Combine sugar, shortening, salt, warm milk and eggs. Add to yeast. Then stir in flour, two cups at a time. Mix well until all flour is added. Let rise until double in bulk. Punch down. Grease 8x8 pans and fill with dough 1/4 inch deep and let rise again. Melt butter and brush on top of coffee cake. Put fruit preserves on when putting in oven. Ice when warm.
