1 lb chopped dates
2 c boiling water
1 lb chopped walnuts
2 c sugar
1 c butter
2 eggs
1 tsp vanilla
3 c flour
2 tsp baking soda
1/4 tsp salt

Preheat oven to 325. Combine dates and walnuts; pour boiling water over top. Into a large bowl, cream butter and sugar; add eggs, beating well after each addition. Beat in flour, salt and baking soda. Stir in vanilla then date mixture.

Pour into greased and floured 13 x 9 pan. Bake 1 1/2-2 hours
