"I have long believed that good food, good eating is all about risk. Whether we're talking about unpasteurized Stilton, raw oysters or working for organized crime 'associates,' food, for me, has always been an adventure."--Anthony Bourdain
This recipe for Apple Dumplings, by Diana Gunter, is from The Baptist Heritage Cookbook,
one of the cookbooks created at FamilyCookbookProject.com. We help
families or individuals create heirloom cookbook treasures.
3 apples (Macintosh or Granny Smith work best) 2 cans Big and Buttery Crescent Rolls 1 can Mountain Dew 2 cups sugar 2 sticks butter Cinnamon
Slice apples very thin. Put 1/12th of the apples in the large end of the crescent rolls and roll up. Place in 9 x 13 baking pan. Melt sugar and butter in pan (do not boil) pour over crescent rolls. Sprinkle cinnamon over top as desired. Pour Mountain Dew over top. Bake 350º for 45-50 minutes or until brown on both sides. Turn after they are brown on top and baste with juices from pan.
