Peel and slice eggplant 1/2" thick. Mix egg with salt and dip eggplant slices into egg. Layer in a greased casserole. Pour tomato sauce over. Brown onion in fat and pour over the tomato sauce. Top with cheese slices. Bake at 350º for 30 - 45 minutes.
