1 lb loaf of challah bread with poppy seeds
1 qt half-n-half
1 1/2 cup sugar
3 eggs
2 Tbsp almond extract
3/4 cup golden raisins
3/4 cup sliced almonds
2 Tbsp butter or margarine

SAUCE:
1 cup confectioners sugar
1/2 cup margarine
1 egg, well-beaten
1/4 cup Amaretto liquer

Directions:
Directions:
Combine bread pieces and half-n-half in large bowl. Let stand one hour, stirring occasionally. Beat sugar, eggs, and almond extract. Fold raisins, almonds, and egg mixture into bread mixture. Grease a 9x13" pan with butter. Spoon mixture into pan. Bake at 325 until firm (50 to 60 minutes).

Sauce:
In double boiler, dissolve sugar in melted butter until mixture is very hot. Remove from heat. Add egg and whisk until room temperature. Add Amaretto. Reheat sauce to thicken and pour over individual servings when ready to serve.
