Personal Notes:
Personal Notes:
This is my grandmother, Marie McMullen's, recipe. I remember eating this at Grandma's house as a little girl after Grandma and Grandpap picked fresh strawberries. Grandma cut them up and mixed them with sugar and we put them on top of the shortcake and poured milk over them. Editor's note: Chrysa's cousin, Maureen Letcher, submitted a very similar recipe. Both are from Aunt Marie but they have either changed a little as they were passed down or she made them a little different each time as the aunts were likely to do. My mom, Dorothy (Marie's sister), has yet another version using 2 tsp. baking powder and no vanilla!
