1 cup water
12 oz. fresh or frozen cranberries
8 oz. chopped dates
1 tsp. vanilla
2 cups quick cooking oats
1 1/2 cups brown sugar
2 cups flour
1 cup butter
1/4 tsp. salt
1/2 tsp. baking soda


2 cups powdered sugar
1/2 tsp. vanilla
2 to 3 tsp. orange juice

In saucepan, combine water, cranberries and dates. Cover and cook until berries pop. Remove from heat and stir in vanilla. In a bowl combine flour, oats, salt, sugar and baking soda. Stir in butter until crumbly. Press half into an ungreased 9-13 baking pan. Bake at 350 for 8 minutes. Spoon cranberry mixture over crust. Sprinkle with remaining crumb mixture. Bake for additional 20 to 25 minutes. Drizzle glaze over bars.
