7 cups sliced apples (best are granny smith)
1-1/2 cups sugar
1/4 cup butter, cut into pieces
2 tablespoons flour
1 tablespoon lemon juice
2 tsps cinnamon
dash of nutmeg

Directions:
Directions:
peel, core and slice apples. Sprinkle with lemon juice. In a small bowl, combine spices, flour and sugar and butter. Mix thoroughly and combine with apples and toss to coat. Pour apple filling into bottom of prepared 9 inch double crust. Cover filling with top crust. Brush with milk and sprinkle with sugar, if desired. If not just bake crust as is. Cover pie edges loosely with loose sheet of tinfoil. Bake at preheated 375º oven for 25 minutes. Remove foil and bake an additional 30 to 40 minutes or until crust is browned.
