"I have long believed that good food, good eating is all about risk. Whether we're talking about unpasteurized Stilton, raw oysters or working for organized crime 'associates,' food, for me, has always been an adventure."--Anthony Bourdain
1 cup soft shortening (part butter) 1 1/2 cup sugar 2 eggs 2 3/4 cup sifted flour 2 tsp cream of tartar 1 tsp soda 1/4 tsp salt
Mix shortening and sugar together with the eggs thoroughly. Sift other ingredients together and stir in. Roll into balls the size of small walnuts. Roll in a mixture of 2 tsp sugar and 2 tsp cinnamon. Place 2" apart on ungreased cookie sheet. Bake 8-10 minutes until lightly browned but still soft. (These cookies puff up at first, then flatten out)
