3 Tbsp shortening
3/4 cup sugar

1 cup flour
1 1/2 tsp baking powder
1/2 tsp salt
1/2 cup milk
1/2 cup chopped pecans

1/4 cup cocoa
1 cup dark brown sugar
1/4 tsp salt

Directions:
Directions:
Cream shortening and sugar. Sift flour, baking powder, and salt. Add to shortening and sugar mixture alternately with 1/2 cup milk. Mix well. Fold in pecans. Pour into 8x8" ungreased pan. Mix together the cocoa, dark brown sugar and salt. Sprinkle over the batter. Pour 1 cup boiling water over the entire thing. DO NOT STIR. Bake at 350 for 40 to 50 minutes. Serve warm (but it's good cooled, too).
