3/4 cup sugar
2 Tbsp margarine or softened margarine
1 egg
1 1/2 cup milk
3 cups sifted flour
3 1/2 tsp baking powder
1 tsp salt
3/4 cup chopped nuts

Directions:
Directions:
Grease a 9x5 loaf pan. Mix thoroughly sugar, shortening, and egg. Stir in milk. Sift together flour, baking powder and salt. Stir in nuts. Pour in pan and let stand for 30 minutes. Bake at 350 for 35 minutes. Ice, if desired, with a thin glaze.
