1 1/3 cup or 1 can (15 oz) condensed milk
2 cups brown sugar
¾ cup white syrup
½ cup butter
dash salt

Directions:
Directions:
Cook in saucepan to soft ball stage. Add vanilla. Pour into buttered pan. Cool to cut. Cut pieces of wax paper about 3x4 inches and butter one side. Drop caramels onto wax paper and roll up twisting the ends.

When I was little, mom’s caramels were a lot harder to make. A real challenge, then this recipe came along. This is my favorite candy. I am guilty of spoonful after spoonful while it is warm.
