2 T. butter 3/4 c. sugar 1/2 c. flour 2 c. milk 1/4 t. salt 3 eggs 1 t. vanilla 1/3 c. caramelized syrup
In large heavy pan, mix all dry ingredients Dump to one side of pan. In clean spot of pan beat egg yolks. Gradually blend them and cold milk into dry ingredients. Add caramel syrup and butter. Stir well and put on low heat. Cook until thick and smooth. Remove from heat add vanilla. Pour into baked pie shell. Top with meringue, brown and eat.
