1/2 cup soft shortening (part butter)
1 cup sugar
1 egg
3/4 cup buttermilk or sour milk
1 tsp. vanilla
1 3/4 cup sifted flour
1/2 tsp. soda
1/2 tsp. salt
1/2 cup cocoa
1 cup chopped nuts

Directions:
Directions:
Mix thoroughly; shortening, sugar and egg. Stir in buttermilk and vanilla. Sift dry ingredients together and stir in to creamed mixture. Add nuts. Chill for 1 hour. Heat oven to 400 degrees. Drop with a teaspoon 2 " apart on a lightly greased cookie
