1 cup sugar 3/4 cup dark corn syrup 1 cup heavy cream or canned milk 2 T butter 1 tsp vanilla
Place all ingredients in a sauce pan and cook on low until sugar dissolves. Continue cooking without stirring until caramel reaches the hard ball stage (260º) Remove from heat and dip apples into caramel and twirl until coated. Dip in finely chopped nuts if desired.
