1 c. cooking oil, 1 c. white sugar, 1 c. brown sugar, 1 c. shortening, 1 - 12 oz. pkg. chocolate chips, 2 eggs, 4 1/4 c. flour, 4 tsp. cream of tartar, 2 tsp. soda, 1 tsp. salt, 2 tsp. vanilla, 1 c. nuts (optional)

Directions:
Cream sugars, shortening, oil and vanilla until fluffy. Add beaten eggs, dry ingredients, chocolate chips and nuts.

Drop by teaspoonful on cookie sheet and bake in moderate oven for 10 -12 minutes. Bake at
