1 pkg German chocolate cake mix
1/3 cup evaporated milk
3/4 cup softened oleo
1 cup nuts (optional)
14 oz. pkg caramels
1/3 cup evaporated milk
16 oz. pkg chocolate chips

Directions:
Directions:
Mix cake mix, milk, and oleo. Add nuts. Press half of the mixture into a greased 9 x 13 pan and bake for 6 minutes at 350

Melt caramels with milk over low heat, stirring often. Spread over baked crust. Sprinkle with chocolate chips. Top with remaining crust mix, spreading out as much as possible. Bake 15-20 min. Cool slightly, then refrigerate 30 minutes to set caramel. Cut into bars.
Freezes well!
