Ingredients:
Ingredients:
2 cups self-rising flour
1/2 cup sugar, divided
3 tablespoons shortening
2 tablespoons butter or margarine, softened
1 cup cooked, mashed sweet potatoes (about 1 large sweet potato) sweetened with 1/4 cup sugar
1/3 cup milk or buttermilk

Directions:
Directions:
Combine flour and 1/4 cup sugar in a medium bowl; cut in shortening and butter with a pastry blender until mixture resembles coarse meal. Add mashed and sugared sweet potatoes and milk, stirring just until dry ingredients are moistened. Turn dough out onto a lightly floured surface; kneed 4 or 5 times.
Roll dough into ˝-inch thickness; cut with a 2-inch biscuit cutter. Place on lightly greased baking sheets.
Bake at 400 degrees for 15 minutes or until golden brown. Yield 1 ˝ dozen

Alternate version: Instead of rolling out the dough - After dry ingredients are moistened (with floured hands) “pull” the dough into small balls and place them (close together but not touching) on a lightly-greased baking sheet. Press the balls down so they are touching each other. Bake as directed.

(Zac) - Hey Vicki and Brian. We just went to the mail box and we got the cookbook. I think I sat for 45 minutes in my truck in the parking lot and read it and looked at all the pictures until I couldnt see through my tears. Thank you so much for sending it to us. We love you and miss you all so much. 10/27/2010.
