2 c. sugar
1 3/4 c. all purpose flour
3/4 c. cocoa
1 1/2 tsp. baking powder
1 1/2 tsp. baking soda
1 tsp. salt
2 eggs
1 c. milk
1/2 c. vegetable oil
2 tsp. vanilla extract
1 c. boiling water

Frosting:
16 oz. cream cheese (softened)
8 Tbsp. butter (softened)
up to one box of powder sugar
1 tsp. vanilla extract
milk (amount determined by consistency)

Directions:

Heat oven to 350. Grease and flour pan(s). In large bowl combine sugar, flour, cocoa, baking powder, baking soda, and salt. Add eggs, milk, oil and vanilla; beat on medium speed 2 minutes. Remove from mixer; stir in boiling water (batter will be thin). Pour into pan(s). Bake 30-35 minutes for round pans and 35-40 for a rectangular pan, or until a wooden toothpick inserted into center comes out clean. Cool and frost.

Combine butter and cream cheese and beat until smooth. Add vanilla and mix in. Start adding in powder sugar until desired sweetness. Add milk (I start with about 1 Tbsp.) until desired consistency is reached.

I never measure out the sugar in the frosting. I do everything to taste. I don't like my frosting too sweet so I don't add as much. Just taste as you mix.
