1 cup shifted flour
2 teaspoon baking powder
1/4 teaspoon salt
3/4 cup sugar
2 tablespoons cocoa
1/2 cup milk
2 tablespoons shortening, melted
1 cup chopped nuts
1 cup brown sugar (packed)
1/4 cup cocoa
1 3/4 cups hot water

Pre heat oven to 350 degrees. Sift together in a bowl the flour, baking powder, salt, sugar and 2 tablespoons cocoa. Stir in milk and melted shortening. Blend in nuts. Spread in 9" square pan. Sprinkle with mixture of 1 cup brown sugar, packed and 1/4 cup cocoa. Pour over the entire batter, 1 3/4 cups hot water.
Bake for 45 minutes. . During the baking the cake mixture rises to top and chocolate sauce settles to bottom. Invert squares of pudding on dessert plates. Dip sauce from pan over each. Or the entire pudding can be inverted in a deep serving platter. Serve warm, with or without whipping cream.

I got this recipe from the Betty Crocker cookbook from Mrs. Oswin Keifer of Bostwick, Nebraska. The sauce and the cake form as the pudding bakes. This really tastes good. A warm dessert can be doubly nice on a cold evening. The cocoa gives it an intense chocolate flavor. Enjoy...
