2# diced stewing beef
1 large onion, diced
5 potatoes, diced into fairly large pieces
3 carrots, peeled and cut into 1" chunks
2 stalks celery, sliced
1 box button mushrooms, brushed clean
1-2 c dry red wine
1 c water
1 packet Lipton onion soup mix
1/2 tsp garlic powder
1/2 tsp salt
1/4 tsp pepper

Directions:
Directions:
Put all ingredients in crock pot, turn on medium and cook all day.

OR...Preheat oven to 300.

Into an oven-proof covered casserole, add all ingredients. Cover and cook 2-4 hours, or until beef is tender.
