1 tsp. salt
1 tbsp. shortening
1 tbsp. sugar
1 package dry yeast
4 cups flour

Directions:
Dissolve the yeast in the water. Add all other ingredients. (I add 2 cups flour, beat well then add remaining flour). Mix in a large bowl and knead until spongy. Set aside and allow to rise until double in bulk. Cut the dough into two sections, knead gently, roll with rolling pin. Form into loaves as for jelly roll and place on a greased cookie sheet. Let rise 1 1/2 hours. Bake in a 350 degree oven for 35 minutes.
