6 small baking apples
3/4 cup sugar
1 cup water
1/8 tsp. ground nutmeg
2 tbsp. butter or margarine
1 cup prepared biscuit mix
1 tbsp. sugar
6 tbsp. light cream

Directions:
Directions:
Peel and core the apples. Combine the 1 cup sugar, water, and nutmeg in a saucepan. Place over low heat and cook about 5 minutes. Add butter and cool slightly. Combine biscuit mix and the 1 tbsp. sugar. Add cream and stir with a fork until a soft dough forms. Roll dough out until a little larger than a 12-inch square. Cut off rough edges and cut dough into quarters. Place a peeled apple in the center of a pastry square. Moisten edges of pastry lightly with water. Bring corners of dough up to meet in center of apple. Pinch dough at sides together firmly.

Turn center corners of dough back for petal effect. repeat with remaining 3 pastry squares and peeled apples. Place dumplings about 1 inch apart in a buttered shallow baking dish. Bake dumplings at 375 for about 35 minutes, or until apples are soft and pastry is golden brown. Let apple dumplings cool slightly. Spoon some of the syrup from the baking dish over each dumpling.
