Ingredients:
4 chicken breast
2 cups flour
1/2 teaspoon salt
1 rounded tablespoon shortening
1/2 cup milk
2 tablespoons butter
salt and pepper to taste
chicken broth

Directions:
Directions:
Put chicken in a 4 quart pan and cover with water, add a little salt and bring to a boil. Continue boiling until cooked. Remove chicken and keep water/broth on medium heat. Once chicken is cool enough to handle, cut into bite sized pieces and add back into the broth. In a separate bowl combine flour, salt, and Crisco until mixture looks like English pea shapes. Slowly add in milk. (might need a little less or a little more).Mixture does not need to be too wet, it needs to be about the same as bread dough. Once consistency is correct, transfer to a flour dusted cutting board or piece of wax paper. Roll out dough and cut into strips about 1 inch wide and 2 inches long. Add butter to broth and slowly drop dumplings into broth and keep uncovered. If this is not enough liquid add chicken broth. Keep on medium heat. Add a few splashes of milk and pepper to taste. Keep on medium heat until ready to serve. One good tip is you could purchase flour tortillas and cut them into strips and use them instead of making the dumplings from scratch.

Personal Notes:
Personal Notes:
From Trey: This is my favorite comfort food and always ask for this when Memow is taking requests. From Kristin: I don't think there is anyone out there that enjoys this dish more than me! I absolutely love it, love it, love it. When I hear 'Chicken and Dumplings,' all I think of is Memow. She makes it better than anyone - I will bet money on it. When I've been sick - this is all I wanted. My sweet mom tried so many times and gets really close......but Memow IS the woman when it comes to this dish. I enjoyed a huge pot of this when coming home from the hospital after having Alyssa, Reese, and Carleigh. I made mom call Memow and get the recipe so it would taste just like hers! So here is the recipe as best as Memow can measure. Good luck!
