1/2 c sugar + 1 tsp. ginger
2 1/4 c.flour 1 tsp. cinnamon
1/4 c nolasses 1/4 tsp cardamom
1.4 c maple or other syrup ( if desired)
3/4 c oil
1 egg May use more spice.

Heat oven to 350

In large bowl, measure 1/2 c sugar, and remaiing ingredients. Beat until well blended.

Place 2 T. sugar on waxed paper. Shape 2 to 3 T. dough into ball. Roll in sugar to coat evenly. Makes abouot 18 balls . Place 2 to3 inches apart on ungreased cookie sheet. Dough is soft. Flatten some.
Bake 12 to14 minutes. Remove to rack to cool. Keep tightly covered. will keep up to 1 month
