1 1/2 c. finely crushed pretzels
1/2 c. melted butter or margarine (do not use spread)
1 1/2 c. sugar, divided
2 8 oz. pkg. cream cheese, softened
1 12 to 16 oz. tub frozen whipped topping
2 3 oz. pkg. strawberry gelatin
2 c. boiling water
2 10 oz. pkg. sweetened strawberries

In a mixing bowl, combine pretzels, butter, and 1/2 cup of sugar. Spread in a 9 x 13 inch baking pan. Bake at 350 for 8-10 minutes. Do not over cook. Let cool. In a large bowl, mix remaining sugar and cream cheese. Fold in whipped topping. Spread over pretzel mixture.
Add gelatin to boiling water and stir until dissolved. Add frozen strawberries, (partially thawed). Pour strawberry mixture over cream cheese layer. Refrigerate 2 to 3 hrs. Cut into squares and serve.

I make a sugar free version of this for my sister in law, Anita. Just replace the sugar with a sugar substitute, and use sugar free whipped topping, sugar free gelatin, and sweeten frozen strawberries with sugar substitute.
