1 onion, chopped
4T shortening
1T paprika
1t black pepper
2T salt
4-5# chicken, cut up
1 1/2c water
1/2 pt. sour cream

Directions:
Directions:
Brown onion in shortening; add seasonings and chicken, brown for 10 minutes.
Add water, cover and let simmer slowly until tender (about 35-45 minutes). Remove chicken.
Place sour cream in bowl, add pan drippings slowly and mix (helps avoid curdling). When sour cream is "warmed", add mix to pan and mix well.
Replace chicken and warm. Serve over homemade dumplings.
