1 c. Crisco
2 c. brown sugar
2 eggs
1/2 c. buttermilk
3 1/2 c. flour
1 tsp. baking soda
1 tsp. salt
1 tsp. vanilla
1 1/2 c. nuts
2 c. maraschino cherries - cut up
2 c. dates - cut up

Chill over night.
Bake at 400 for 8 to 10 minutes.
