1/2 c. shortening
1 Tbsp. sugar
1 tsp. salt
3/4 c. buttermilk
1/2 c. melted butter
1 tsp. garlic powder
2 c. flour
2 tsp. baking powder
1/4 tsp. baking soda
1 c. shredded cheddar cheese
1 tsp. parsley

Cut shortening into flour, sugar, baking powder, salt and baking soda until mixture resembles fine crumbs. Stir in cheese and milk until dough leaves the side of the bowl. Drop by large spoonfuls onto ungreased cookie sheet. Bake at 450 until lightly browned (about 10-12 minutes). Combine 1/2 c. melted butter with the parsley and garlic powder. Brush biscuits with the melted butter mixture as soon as they are done and return them to the oven for another 2 minutes.
