3/4 cup water
1/2 cup soy sauce
1 tsp onion powder
1/2 tsp ground ginger
boneless, skinless chicken breast halves
1 T. crushed garlic
1/3 cup sugar
1/3 cup pineapple juice
2 tablespoons apple vinegar
Optional 4 canned pineapple slices

Directions:
Directions:
1. Combine 1/2 cup water with the soy sauce in a small saucepan over high heat. Add the onion, gingerroot and garlic. Bring to a boil, reduce heat and simmer for 10 min.
2. Strain off the onion, gingerroot and garlic and return the liquid to the pan over low heat. Discard the vegetables.
3. Add sugar, pineapple juice and vinegar to the pan.
4. Combine the cornstarch with the remaining 1/4 cup water in a small bowl and stir to dissolve any lumps. Remove the teriyaki from the heat, add the cornstarch, then put it back on the heat . Continue to simmer stirring often for 1 min. until the mixture thickens.
Marinade for 2-5 hours.
place chicken on bbq and cook until done when turning rub more marinade on each side and if you split the chicken breast rub marinade on inside of the breast.
cook chicken breast around 5-7 min on each side at 350-400 on bbq.
