1 pound butter 1 cup white sugar 5 cups all-purpose flour
Cream butter and sugar well. Add flour, one cup at a time, mixing thoroughly after each addition. Roll on lightly floured surface to 1/2 inch thickness. Cut into 1 inch squares, or use a cookie sheet. Prick tops with a fork. Bake at 275ºF until lightly browned. Do not over-brown.
