Mix in bowl:
2 c. sugar
2 c. flour
1 t. soda
Put in sauce pan and bring to boil:
3/4 c. shortening
4 T. cocoa
1 c. water
Mix liquid and dry ingredients, stirring constantly.
1/2 c. butter milk
2 eggs
1 t. vanilla

1/4 c. butter, melted
4 t. cocoa
1 t. vanilla
3/4 c. powdered sugar
6 t. milk
1/2 c. nuts or coconut

Beat well. Bake on greased cookie sheet, including sides. Bake at 350 degrees for 20-25 minutes. Ice while still warm.
