1 cup soft butter,
1/2 cup sugar,
2 1/2 cup sifted flour

Directions:
Directions:
Mix ingredients thoroughly with hands. Dough can be tinted with food color. Chill dough so it will be easier to work with.
Preheat oven to 300 as you roll out the chilled dough on a lightly dusted surface. At 1/3 to 1/2 inch thickness cut into small shapes. If you are short on time, cut into strips then cut diagonally across strips to make diamond shapes.
Place on an ungreased cookie sheet and bake for 20-25 minutes. The cookie size will not change and the tops do not brown. Remove from the oven when the bottom edges to turn golden.

These are similar to Lorna Doone shortbread cookies and are fabulous with a hot cup of tea. Sprinkled with colored sugar they are a favorite at Christmas time.
