3 quarts Blackberries
6 cups sugar
1 cup water

Dumplings:
1/2 cup butter
1 cup sugar
3 eggs
1/2 cup milk
1 tsp baking powder
2 cups flour

Directions:
Directions:
Cook the fresh blackberries with sugar and water for 45 minutes(must be juicy) Remove from fire but
do not cool. Mix the dumplings.
Return berries to fire on medium heat. Drop dough mixture by spoonful into berry mixture.(so they don't touch one another) Let simmer until each ball of dough is cooked. Keep dropping more spoonfuls until dough is used up. Lift out each ball as cooked and place on a platter. To serve place ball in bowl and spoon sauce over. Ice cream or whipping cream can be served on top.

Personal Notes:
Personal Notes:
This a very old recipe. Momma used to make this for us during blackberry season. She would put the berries through a cone sieve to remove the seeds. This makes the juice thicker also. This is
better than cobbler.
