Sugar Cookies Recipe

1 1/2 c. powdered sugar
1 egg
1/2 tsp almond extract
1tsp baking soda
1 c. butter
1 tsp vanilla
1 tsp. cream of tartar
2 1/2 c. flour

Icing
5 c. powdered sugar
1/2 c. plus 1 Tbsp. milk
paste food coloring

Directions:
Directions:
Mix together sugar, butter, egg, vanilla, and almond extract until fluffy. Add rest of ingredients until smooth. Cover and refrigerate, at least 2 hrs but preferable overnight. Divide dough in half. Roll out onto flour surface until 1/4" - 3/16" in thickness. Cut into shapes. Bake at 375 for 7-8 minutes. May sprinkle with granulated sugar or decorate with icing.

Icing
Mix together until smooth. Color frosting desired color and spoon onto cooled cookies. Frosting will harden.
