2 c. flour
1 tsp. salt
1 T. baking powder
1 tsp. garlic powder
1/2 c. shortening
1 c. sharp American cheese, grated
2/3 c. buttermilk
dried parsley
melted butter, for brushing

Directions:
Directions:
Preheat oven to 425 F. Sift together dry ingredients. Add half of the grated cheese to shortening and mix. Cut the shortening mixture into the dry ingredients until it becomes coarse. Add buttermilk and mix until uniform. Drop biscuits into greased muffin tins. Sprinkle with remaining cheese, a little garlic powder and some dried parsley. Bake for 12-15 minutes. Brush biscuits with butter hot out of the oven. Serve warm. Makes about 12 biscuits.
