1/2 c. margarine
1/3 c. sugar
1 c. white flour
1 c. whole wheat or rye flour
1 tsp. soda
2 tsp. baking powder
1/2 tsp. cream of tartar
3/4 c. buttermilk

Directions:
Directions:
Cream together margarine and sugar. Sift together other dry ingredients. Add to creamed mixture alternately with buttermilk. Roll flat with rolling pin to 1/4 inch thickness on lightly floured pastry board. Cut 2-inch rounds. Place on ungreased baking sheet and bake at 400º F. until light brown.
Split each biscuit in half. Place on baking sheet and bake at 200º about five minutes or until light brown. Makes about 4 dozen. Can be frozen.
