8 oz mostaciolli
1 1/2 lb ground chuck or sausage or combo of both
1/2 cup chopped onion
1/4 chopped green pepper
1 clove minced garlic
1- 28 oz diced tomatoes
1 - 8 oz can tomato sauce
1- 4 oz mushrooms, stems and pieces
1- 6 oz can tomato paste
1/2 cup water
1 tsp. salt
1 tsp sugar
1 tsp dried basil
1/8 tsp. pepper
1 bay leaf
6 oz sliced Mozzarella cheese
1/2 cup grated parmesan cheese

Directions:
Cook mostaccioli in lg amt. of boiling water about 14 min. or until tender. Drain. Set aside. In lg. pan, cook meat, onion, green pepper and garlic until meat is browned and vegetables are tender. Drain off fat. Stir in undrained tomatoes, tomato sauce, tomato paste, undrained mushrooms, water, salt, sugar, basil, pepper and bay leaf. Bring to a boil and reduce heat. Cover and simmer for 30 min. stirring occasionally. Remove bay leaf and stir in mostaccioli. Place 1/2 of mixture into a greased 3 qt. casserole or 13x9x2 baking dish; place 1/2 mozzarella cheese on top. Top with remaining meat mixture. Sprinkle with parmesan cheese. Cover with foil and bake at 350 degrees 35 minutes or until heated through. Remove foil and cut remaining mozzarella cheese into strips and arrange on top of casserole.
