1 16 oz. bag frozen (or fresh) speckled butter beans
8 oz. bacon (or ham based seasoning)
Salt and pepper to taste

Directions:
Directions:
In large stock pot fry bacon till almost done, add peas and butter beans, cover with water (at least an inch over the peas). Salt and pepper. Bring to a boil, reduce heat to a nice simmer. Cook until desired tenderness.

Personal Notes:
Personal Notes:
Instead of bacon, lots of time I use Better Than Boullion - Ham Base. It does not contain fat, so it makes for a much healthier dish. And it tastes great! We usually eat our peas over a bowl of rice, with freshly chopped onions and tomatoes. I love to cook a large pot full, share with everybody and keep a couple of containers for myself in the freezer for rainy days.
