4 1/2 c. sugar
2 tsp. cinnamon
1 tsp. salt
1 c. cornstarch
1/4 tsp. nutmeg
10 c. water

Directions:

*7 qt. canning jars, cleaned and sterilized
Golden Delicious or mixed apples, peel and slice and fill 7 qt. jars.

Cook syrup ingredients until thick. Add 3 tablespoons lemon juice. Pour over apples in jars. Seal. Process in canner for 20 minutes.

Brandon and Christina learned how to can this year and one of the recipes they canned was this recipe. It turned out so good that they have already made quite a few pies and I'm wondering if the canned pie mix will last through the winter...
