Ingredients:
1 cup butter or oleo (shortening)
1-1/2 cups sugar
3-1/2 cups sifted flour
1-1/2 tsp. vanilla
3 eggs
1 tsp. soda
2 tbsp. hot water

1-1/2 lbs. pecans
¾ lb. candied cherries
¾ lb. dates
¾ lb. raisins

Directions:
Directions:
Cream sugar and oleo. Add eggs and beat good. Add flour alternately with soda and water mixed. Add vanilla. Chop pecans. Add pecans, candied cherries, dates, and raisins, if desired (puffed). Mix batter with hands and take 1/2 tablespoon and make into balls. Bake at 350 for 10-11 minutes.

(Note: Flatten cookies on baking sheet before baking. Makes a lot—doesn’t get brown—looks beige when done. I baked them for 12 minutes.)

Personal Notes:
My Grandmother, Bobbie Vogel, made these cookies for Christmas instead of fruitcake. We always looked forward to her special cookies!
