1 cup flour
1 tbsp butter
2 eggs
1 tbsp hot water
1 lb dates
1 cup flour
1 tsp baking powder
1/2 cup chopped nuts
1 tsp vanilla extract

Directions:
Directions:
Cream butter. Add sugar, then eggs, then hot water, then flour, then baking soda and salt; mix well after each addition. Add dates, nuts and vanilla extract. Put batter in pan and bake at 300F for 25 minutes. Cool then cut into squares and serve.
