Garlic Knots Recipe

1 cups milk
2 tbls sugar
4 tbls butter at room temperature
2 tsp active dry yeast
1 egg
2 tsp salt
3 - 4 cups flour
olive oil and crushed garlic

Heat the milk to lukewarm, pour into large bowl and stir in sugar, butter and yeast.
Leave for 15 minutes to dissolve.
Stir the egg and salt into the mixture. Gradually stir in the flour.
On a floured surface, knead the dough until it is smooth and elastic.
Place in a greased bowl, cover and leave in a warm place for 1 hours.
Punch down dough. Cut into 24 equal rounds. Roll into a rope and tie each rope into a knot.
Place on a baking sheet, cover and let rise for 1 hours.
Preheat the oven to 400 degrees. bake for 20 minutes.
Immediately remove from baking sheet and place in bowl with olive oil and crushed garlic and a pinch of salt. Toss until all knots are coated.
Serve warm.
