Mom's Cloud Biscuits Recipe

2 cups flour
4 tsp baking powder
tsp cream of tarter
2 tsp sugar
cup Crisco
2/3 Cup buttermilk
1 egg

Preheat oven to 425 degrees
Sift flour, salt, baking powder and cream of tartar in a large bowl.
Add Crisco and sugar using a pastry bender or fork, mix until it has the consistency of coarse corn meal.
Add buttermilk and egg. Toss together until all particles are moistened.
Gather the dough into a ball and turn onto a lightly floured surface. Knead the dough gently, about 12 strokes with the heel of the hand. Gather into a ball.
Lightly flour the board and roll the dough out to inch thickness. Cut the dough with a floured biscuit cutter.
Place on an ungreased cookie sheet about inch apart.
Bake for 15 minutes.
