3 large potatoes, finely chopped
1 lb baked ham or country ham, chopped
2 tsp salt
2 tsp black pepper
1 tsp garlic salt
Small bowl chopped chives
Small bowl shredded sharp cheese
Croutons
1 pint heavy cream
6 C water

Directions:
Directions:
Place water, potatoes, salt, and pepper into large soup or stew pot on stove. Bring to a low boil and cook for 20 minutes, then turn head down to low, and add ham, garlic salt, and heavy cream. Heat until all flavors have blended (do not boil). You may add more water if needed to reach desired thickness. Serve with chives, cheese, and croutons on the side. This is a great wintertime meal. If you have leftovers, they can be used to make pot pies.
