1/2 c shortening
2 squares unsweetened chocolate
1 c sugar
2 eggs
1/2 c applesauce
1 tsp vanilla
1 c flour
1/2 tsp baking powder
1/4 tsp baking soda
!/2 c chopped nuts

Directions:

1.Cream shortening, melted unsweetened chocolate, sugar.
2. Add eggs and mix well, applesauce and vanilla
3. Sift dry ingredients together and add to cream mixture.
4. Pour into a bar pan and bake for about 20 minutes or until middle is firm to touch.
5. Dust with powder sugar or serve with a brown sugar sauce or just eat plain.
