Fresh Apple Cake Recipe

1 3/4 c. coarsely chopped apples
1 c. sugar
1 1/2 c. sifted all-purpose flour
1 tsp. soda
1/2 tsp. salt
1/2 c. raisins
1/2 c. chopped nuts
1 egg
1 tsp. cinnamon
1/2 tsp. nutmeg
1/2 tsp. allspice
1/2 c. butter melted

Preheat oven to 350. Chop apples into large mixing bowl, pour sugar over apples and mix. Let stand 10 minutes. Add melted butter and mix well; add egg and beat well with a wooden spoon. Sift dry ingredients and add to apple mixture. Stir in nuts and raisins. Pour into a 8 or 9 " greased pan and bake for 55 minutes.

Sauce for cake:

1 c. white sugar
1/4 c. butter
1/2 c. evaporated milk
1 tsp vanilla.
Mix first 3 ingredients together and heat to boiling, stirring constantly. Remove from heat and add vanilla. Good warm or cool spooned over the cake.
