3 Tbs. Olive Oil, 2 Cloves Garlic, 1 Large Onion, 1 Tbs Basil, 1/2 Tbs rosemary, oregano, and thyme, 1/4 Cup Barley, 2 Medium Thin Skinned Potatoes, 2 carrots, 1 Turnip, 8 Cups Vegetable Stock, 1 Can red Kidney beans, 2/3 Cup Small Shell Macaroni, 1/4 Cup Tomato Paste, 2 Cups Green Cabbage, 1 1/2 Cups Shredded Jack Cheese.

Heat oil in 5 quart kettle. cook onion, and garlic till transparent- Add broth , potatoes, carrots, barley and seasonings. Bring to boil- simmer covered 20 minutes. Add beans, macaroni, tomato paste,- boil till macaroni is tender- add cabbage cook till tender. serve with grated jack cheese.
